DHONI WAS LIKE A BOMB ABOUT TO EXPLODE

Jun 08, 2011 Posted Under: Sports
Yuvraj Singh, man of the tournament of the 2011 50 over world cup said that Indian captain MS Dhoni resembled ” bomb about to explode”. MS Dhoni had not fired in the most of the tournament. He fired when it mattered the most and had an great impact on the result of the game and probably to the lives of 121 billion people. Yuvraj Singh helped India win many matches in the recently concluded Cricket World Cup 2011. His role as batsmen, bowler and fielder was detriment to India finally winning the world cup which eluded India for the past 28 years. He wrote in the quarterly published newsletter of BCCI “He (Dhoni) was not getting big scores in the tournament, but he kept working hard, and did not miss a single practice session. Watching him in the nets gave one the impression that he was a ‘bomb about to explode’,” “Looking back, I am glad he ‘exploded’ in the final, and not earlier! He went in ahead of me in that game, but that was purely to keep the... Read More

INDIA PLAYS AUSTRALIA IN THE QUATERFINALS OF THE WORLD CUP

Mar 21, 2011 Posted Under: Sports
India has played all their group matches. Overall you can say it was a decent performance. India won 4 matches, drew 1, and lost 1, for which Dhoni received more than his fair share of criticism. India willl now play Australia in the quaterfinal, a tough opposition considering it is the number 1 ODI team. I would say ‘clash of the titans’ since both teams are number one sides in different forms of the game. India is number one in tests. Australia has been an excellent team for more than a decade, the only team winning three world cup in a row and overall four worldcups. An achievement few can dare to emulate leave alone achieving it. Ricky Ponting has been the one who lifted the cup twice and he is a serious contender this year as well. Though his team is doing good, I feel the man is tired or rather exhausted. I wish I could say that it is mostly because of his body language and expressions. But the fact is that Australia lost to Pakistan, the only team that provided any... Read More

ENGLAND’S WORLD CUP CAMPAIGN NOT YET OVER

Mar 18, 2011 Posted Under: Sports
England won its Group b match against the West Indies in an excellent contest fought hard by both the teams. When the English were batting the openers gave them a good start and it seemed they had done their job in providing England a strong foundation. But it was not to be. Number three and four managed to get agood start but failed to convert it to big scores. After their top four back in the pavilion it was an uphill task for England to post a huge target for the West Indies. Except Luke Wright no one really scored anything substantial and they managed only a 243 which, according to the commentators, looked like a competitive score The West Indian batsmen, silent and determined, made their way to the field. Chris Gayle was at his explosive best scoring 43 runs off just 21 balls with eight boundaries and a six, then came the captain Darren Sammy who carried on the assault scoring 41 off just 29 deliveries. Their explosion at the top of the order made sure that the run rate equation... Read More

SACHIN TENDULKAR BATS LEFT HANDED

Feb 24, 2011 Posted Under: General
Sachin Tendulkar is known for his childlike enthusiasm for the sport even after playing for almost 22 years. He will turn 38 this April. He superimposed these traits by batting left handed in the nets in Chinnaswamy Stadium. Sachin Tendulkar walked in while M.S. Dhoni and Virat Kohli stretched their arms and threatened the back rows of the Chinnaswamy Stadium, which is also the venue for next world cup match between India and England, with massive hits. Piyush Chawla also became a willing victim of the carnage of the one day left-handed Sachin who hit two sixes and a boundry. “Gary Kirsten throws a million balls at me,” Tendulkar had said a few months ago and that fact got repeated again while the maestro toyed with the throw-downs. There was no sign of discomfort as Tendulkar moved his feet and played with assurance while the scare of him undergoing an MRI scan on his left knee at Mumbai recently, was quickly... Read More
