New Data Plans for iPhone, iPad, Smartphone Data Plans, Tethering from AT&T

The new and update Data Plan of AT&T is more affordable for more people to enjoy the benefits of the mobile Internet.

AT&T announced new data plans for iPhone, iPad, Smartphone Data Plans, Tethering.

AT&T will introduce two new data plans to replace its current $30 unlimited smartphone plan.

AT&T DataPlus Plan

200MB of data for $15 per month. AT&T says this will be enough data to meet the needs of 65% of its smartphone users.

AT&T DataPro Plan

2GB of data for $25 per month. According to AT&T, only 2% of its smartphone customers manage to blow through more than 2GB of data per month. Go over the limit and you’ll be charged $10 per GB.

iPad Data Plans

The $29.99 unlimited data plan for the iPad. Starting June 7th, new iPad customers will have two options: $15 for 250MB and $25 for 2GB of data. Any iPad customers who wish to stick to the $30 unlimited plan are free to do so, but AT&T is hoping most people will opt to save $5 and change plans.

iPad 3G data Plans

The current iPad plans by AT&T is $30/month with no contract and unlimited data but this time plan has now been revised to $25/month with 2 GB of data and will be available for customers who activate after 7th June. But if you activate your data plan before 7th June you are eligible for the current $30/month.

Tethering Data Plans

It will be allowed only as an add-on to Data-Pro plan with an extra charge of $20/month which makes the total of $45/month for 2 GB data shared between your phone and your tethered devices. This seems to be increase in cost for the users who were using $30/month data plan, now they have to pay $45/month if they want to take tethering and their unlimited plans will now be restricted to 2 GB.
According to AT&T 98% of users use less than 2 GB of data so, if any smartphone user plans to switch to $25/month plan saves minimum of $5/month.
