More Infiltration Expected in Kashmir

About 700 well-armed militants were waiting to cross over to the Indian side, the Jammu and Kashmir top cop warned on Saturday. Kuldeep Khoda, director general of police, said the militants would try to disrupt the “peaceful atmosphere” in the state. Khoda, while speaking at a press conference in Jammu, said the maximum number of infiltration bids took place in November. “Infiltration bids increase during the months of March-April when the passes open and when the infiltration routes in the snow-clad mountains are about to close in October-November,” he said. He said specific intelligence suggests that the militants were trying to build hideouts. However, he was happy that people were providing inputs on infiltrators to the police. “People have started coming in good numbers to provide information about the infiltrators,” Khoda said.
