This is FYI. Micromax MMX 372 G datacard has so many problems. I bought it last month from Ebay and i returned the product as it was not working properly. Moreover i have another 2G modem from Micromax ( 610U ) which locked with airtel. In that i am getting very good speed where as in this modem w cant load even a single page.
As u can see in the above comments this modem will be disconnected immediately after connecting to the internet. I can say i could not browse more that 5 min continuously by this modem.
The memory card reader was not working, software is very waste and sometime it wont even detect the network also.
I am saying about 372 G datacard only and not for all others. I have another modem of micromax 610 u which is working very fine for me.

mr. pankaj u make a profile and select appro. operator in dropdown list n then next n click advance setting n write apn for airtel “airtelgprs.com” n for udea “imis” n for “portalnmms”. and click next . n select ur profile n set as default. n connect. n access net.

well Mr. mukesh m using a normal 2g bsnl sim in my micromax mmx372 g modem and m gettiing a 256 kbps broadband speed,at only 274 bucks per month. because it is a 3g modem so u can use 2g sim in it. and becuz bsnl got hsdpa towers so u can 3g services iin a 2g sim also. all u have to do is simply go on option tab and then select network and then in network modem select UMTS/HSPS(3G) simple just save it and ur done n dun do any changes in the network selection option. yesterday i downloaded a 1 gb file in like 5 hours at 256 kbps speed my download speed was 40 kbps not bad at all when ur paying only 274 rs and ur internet unlimited download and upload scheme. cheers
and one i will suggest u to use bsnl sim dun use airtel sim bcuz there towers r limited and they got stupid network. use bsnl u will get better speeds and for ur disconnecting problem i would say i was also having such problem one month ago but then i found that my drivers were not updated and it was pc’s problem not modems the i reformatted my pc and from then my modem is working fine. reformat ur pc and then try connecting ur modem again
but yeah b cuz its bsnl u never know abt the signal and network. sometimes the speed gets dead and speed is very slow but although bsnl is better than any other cellular company . i suggest u to use bsnl sim cards.

dude manu u dun agree with ya statement i mean m using this modem mmx 372 g and m getting a download speed of 400 kbps easily and m using a bsnl 2g sim in my 3g modem. and m paying only 274 bucks per month yesterdai i downloaded a 2 gb file in 7 hours thatnt not bad at all

kavita u need to do some work on network option. first think u have to do is to change the network mode to umts 3g mode and second thing dun change the network mode and then ur modem will work faster.

well chetan my location is like is like 5 kms away from bsnl tower but m getting a decent speed of abt 256 kbps like a broadband and m using a 2g sim card in my 3g modem. may be the speed fluctuates according to time and usage of network. for me the time between 7.00 am to 12 pm is pretty decent i get a 40 kbps speed. and after 1 pm speeds starts declining like 20 kbps so in morning speed is good and in noon and evening is is little low. at night also speed is good. m using my modem is kanpur city and here bsnl towers r working good may be that;s y my speed is good.and one more i would like to tell that one day i was connecting my modem but it was saying failed to connect to internet then i changed the profile name and then everything was fine it was working nicely. hope that helps
and chetan one more thing the speed if ur getting 30kbps as u told is not bad for a such scheme i mean dun except the speed the speed above 300 kbps or 400 kbps becuz ur using a 2g sim card in a 3g modem. if u will buy a 3g sim then u will get higher speeds so 30 kbps is not a bad speed for a 2g sim card. u can download a 1 mb file in 30 secs with that speed

ok kavita m telling u the procedure how to change ur mode to 3g
1 open ur mmx 372 netwarrior spftware for modem
2 then go to the options menu
3 then select network option under it
4 and after then in network mode select UMTS/HSPA(3G) option
and then u can get the best speed available
and yeah one more thing u can only select and change the network mode when u haven’t connected ur modem make sure that ur modem is not connected to internet then only u can select and change the network mode.
well chetan it seems ur problem is lil different b cuz m if ur location only 700 meters from tower then u shub get better speeds but ur getting no connection. i think u shud call bsnl customer care and ask them to give u a new profile information and name like profile name and apn number. may be that will solve ur problem b cuz it often happens that ur getting signal and after that also u can;t connect to internet may be b cuz of falty profile name and apn no.
and always select the loction as india BSNL- EAST internet.

Rahul i think your problem is availability of 3g tower. It is not available that far outside the city. When you are within city, your modem uses 3g network which gives you better speed while when you are 7 km away, there is no 3g network available so your modem uses 2g network.
You can verify this by looking in the modem software. When it shows 3g and H it means 3g network is available. When it shows 2g and E that means 2g network.
hi all, i am using bsnl 3g usim. i am using my mobile as modem at present it is giving me 460Kbps max speed. i want full speed of 3G, i like to buy one usb 3g modem, suggestion needed.
1) is 7.2Mbps supported device is good or 3.6Mbps ( i like 7.2 Mbps bcos later isp can provide that speed).
2) which one to buy both in 7.2Mbps and in 3.6Mbps datacards.
3) can i buy these data cards outside bsnl (any shops if u know)

hi shobit can u plz tell me in how much price did u bought ur mmx 372 g modem. i bought it in 4500 inr from a bsnl agents working outside the main bsnl brach office. i just want to know whether he fooled me and charged me high for modem or it is ok plz reply soon. and till now this modem is rocking for me m getting 280 kbps easily from past 2 weeks. i bought this modem 2 months ago. but only problem with this thing is that something it gets disconnected after using a while well that;s not a big deal cuz now i know how to tackle with this problem. shobhit have u also ever got this disconnecting error problem with ur modem?
chetan u shud call bsnl customer care and ask them to give u a new profile name and apn no. i think this will do the job. cuz that;s the only and last way to make ur modem work.

Well Pratyush I buy this modem for 3900 rs. but not from bsnl agent. It is not the one with bsnl written on box and can be used with any service provider. It doesnt include sim and recharge. I think u bought one with bsnl sim, 1 month validity and 274 recharge.
Ya i do have the same problem. Will You plz tell me how to sort it out. In my opinion it happens when modem heats up much.
There is one more thing i want to ask you Which operating system do you use xp or vista/7? Have you applied any kind of speed tweaking or something to improve speed?
Pratyush there is one more thing you can do to measure what speed in real you are getting. Visit http://www.speedtest.net and perform speed test. It will give you accurate speed measurement my speed test shows download speed of 0.25 megabits/sec and upload speed 0.6 megabits/sec.
What you have mentioned earlier in your post that you downloaded 2 gb in 7 hours is quite hard to believe because it is possible if you get some 670 odd kbps speed.
well shobhit i have bought it with a bsnl personnel but its not written bsnl or anything like that on it . i mean it can be used with any of the serveice providers. hmm wat do u think shobhit. did that bsnl person charged high from me for the modem? i mean u bought it for 3900 and i bought it for 4500 dammit LOL. anyways yeah he gave me a bsnl 2g sim card along with the modem and when i purchased my modem that scheme was of 230 and now it has been shifted to 274 plan. m using this modem on my windows xp proffesional operating system. anyways i m getting really angry b cuz he charged higher from me. shobhit wat do u think did he fooled me and from which shop did u bought ur modem. thanks.
shobhit wat i often do to solve this disconnection problem is when it occurs something. i turn on the windows firewall. and it works also i dun know how but it works. second i go hardware option and check whether my usb ports r working fine or not if they r not working fine a yellow error sign displays on them and then i roll back the driver then also modem starts working. but basically i think this problem is occurs due to weak software offered with this modem. yesterday i was surfing the net from part 2 hours evrything was working fine and then my modem jus got disconnected then i took the modem out of the usb port and again plugged it in and then i restarted my pc and it started working. hope that helps.
guddu i have been using this micromax mmx 372 g modem and till now this is a nice modem {except the problem of disconnection sometimes }and has a good
speed even if u use a 2g sim in it. i m using 274 plan 2g sim in it and i get average 30 kbps speed and some days like 24-25 kbps. well if he is not refunding ur money then u shud go with mmx 372g b cuz it has a 7.2 mbps downlink speed and 300 g has only 3.2 mbps and in coming future i think bsnl will be able to transmit higher speeds like 5.2 mbps also. at last decision is urs. but i suggest u to think abt 372 g model.

Pratyush today i visit a shop @ gumti plaza where its cost is 3700 bucks without sim. I bought it from a shop @ somdutt 4 months ago so i think i got a fair deal. It is available @ 3200-3400 in new delhi.
Please do me a favour visit speed test site and perform speed test and post the result. It takes about 2 minutes.
One thing i wanna tell u that i am using various internet mediums for past 10 years and it doesnt matters what maximum speed u get but what constant average speed u get during download. Because maximum speed can be a sharp spike for just an instant and it may go as twice as average speed.

abhishek mm x 372 g got some disconnecting problem its true. but its a better modem than 300g. the 300 g has a maximum bandwith of 3.2 mps and 372 g has maximum bandwith of 7.2 mbps. but 372 g has this disconnection problem sometimes. though m using 372 g and i am satisfied with it except that disconnecting which arises sometimes. u can c my internet speed of my 372 g modem with a 2g bsnl sim. u can open the links which i have posted above.
hello every body i m using bsnl 2g sim in nokia device and m getting 45 to 50 57 some time 60 kbps downloading speed it is enough for 2g @ 274 rs. per month. some time speed lowest bt not very low low means not below 25 or 20 kbps downloading speed. before three months my sin not give me gud speed like as 10 kbps download speed or below and sim countinuously showing error / every start up mobile and one month of my recharage was damage then i replace my 2g sim and mobile also now i have nokia 2730 classic and now i m setisfy of this service. i always download movies from torrent download and it complete in 5 to 6 hrs. use umts signal search manually select 3g towers. after do this u r nt getting gud respons then reinstall ur software also window pc suit etc . if u want more details then u can see thi link there are some suggeson…………

chetan is very simple to select 3g band. all u have to do is when u havent connected ur modem to internet. then go on option menuand then select network option and then in network mode option select UMTS/HSPA {3g} option and then its done now u have selected 3g band now go and press connect button to start internet. plz make sure that b4 selcting 3g band make that u haven’t connected ur modem to internet otherwise 3g option will be disabled and it will be grey. hope that helps.

For all those with disconnection problems —
Use the Number to dial as *99***1# and not *99# or *98#
When you use *99***1# you will not face any disconnects but if you use *99# or something else the modem will connect and disconnect immediately as soon as data is not being transferred.
This is because with *99# you are using the string
at+cgdcont=1,”ip”,”bsnlnet”,”",0,0 under Extra initialisation commands of the Modem’s properties before dialing.
In your Phone if you set the default APN as bsnlnet, then *99***1# works without using the extra initialisation commands as the PC knows which APN to use.
Since we are already specifying the APN, *99***1# works ( *99# does not work because there is no extra initialisation command defined and the modem is looking for one).
I myself had to fiddle around for more than an hour to figure this thing out & my connection on the Micromax MMX372G is Rock-solid without any disconnects since the past 1.30 hours as I am typing this Comment.

Also, I belong to Ghazipur dist but my home is arround 35 km from the city.It’s rural area but bsnl tower is there neary by as people are use the bsnl sim there. Now I am thinking of purchasing the 372 datacard for internet use. I need it for working from home . So any idea whether it will work there or I should think some thing else.

ravi i think may be ur idea is correct or may be it works but for me my apn no. is still*99# and m not getting a single problem of disconnecting and all that . i play multiplayer games fluently on my mmx 372 g modem. although sometimes that problems occurs but i think its usb problem and compatibility not apn no. problem from. u won’t believe but i have being using my mmx 372 modem from last 2 weeks without a single problem of disconnecting and my average speed is 300 kbps m using it in kanpur. so its not an no. its sometimes occurs b cuz modem gets overheated or some usb problem of pc occurs nothing more than that. hope that helps.

chetan i think computer sometimes failes to recognize this device. well there is no solution of this problem. becuz its a port problem. not a network problem. it often happens with my pc also then i restart my pc and then it starts working.
chetan usmein option diya hoga i mean in network option tab usmein se 3gumts/hspa wala option slect karna hoga. it must be in ur modem. u shud check. u can acces 3g service in 2g sim.
main 3g option ko select karta hon to bagal main likh ke aata hai “you can not select this band”
i think may be the sim card is faulty. try this with some another sim chetan.

pankaj i havent used 611 u so say anything abt it and its a 2g card so it won;t be faster than 156 kbps. but mmx 372 g is a 3g card and i m using it from last 4 months and for me its working awesome except the problem of disconnection which occurs sometimes and that it its only drawback otherwise this mmx 372 modem rocks its awesome . yesterday i downloaded 2 gig file in 8 hours my speed was 300 kbps.
if u take my sugg i will suggest u mmx 372 g ans it a 3g modem. but will also make u aware of its disconnecting problem. i have used 2 g cards. b4 i used a huawei ec 325 modem and it was a pretty slow and pretty dissapointing.

rajesh i also have bsnl 3g modem its a micromax 372 g 2g mode. ur modem is not locked. i have used airtel and idea sims in my modem and they r working fine. when u use another sim card in ur bsnl modem then u have to give correect apn and profile name then only u can access to another sim. every operator like airtel and idea have their profile name and apn code like bsnl . and u have to fill correct apn no and profile and u can get them from airtel agent without that u can’t use ur airtel sim in bsnl modem.

I purchaged a MMX372G modem.I have instaled it in my pc .I also purchase a 3g bsnl sim . Dealer says that he convert the 3G sim in to 2G then it works in area where 3G network is not avlable but 2G netwok is avlable.
