Cops found in parlour racket to loot people
Luring people for a ‘hot massage’ and then looting them has landed two Delhi policemen in hot soup. Ran Singh, who had been suspended earlier, and Shaji E.J., posted with the northeast district, devised a novel
way to earn extra bucks. They published advertisements of a ‘massage parlour’ in a newspaper. The person who called up on the phone number given in the ad was asked to come near a movie hall in Rajouri Garden.
Once he reached there, the duo would tell him that a girl would give him a massage inside a car. When the customer got into the car, the duo would reveal their identity as policemen and ask him to hand over whatever cash and valuables he was carrying. Trapped, the person would pay up to avoid embarrassmentand getting arrested.
The duo had looted more than 50 persons in this manner. The crime branch office at R.K. Puram sent a sub-inspector as a decoy customer to nab them after it received a complaint. Singh, Shaji and their associate Indrraj were arrested on November 21 while the fourth person managed to flee with the car.
